About Compaid
Compaid was founded in 1986 by Lorna Ridgway MBE, who recognised the enormous potential of personal computers to increase the communication and creative opportunities for those who were living with disability.
Following a huge amount of research and experience amassed during her work with disabled people at a local residential home, she decided to set up a specialised centre that offered a variety of activities based around computers, specialist software and accessing devices.
Lorna died in 1996, but not before she saw her inspirational work benefiting increasing numbers of disabled people and their families.
Today, we continue to use technology to empower disabled people, while developing a number of complementary services to enable individuals to achieve their goals.
