Outreach

Requests for OUTREACH visits are received at COMPAID Trust, either from members of the public, on their own behalf, or on behalf of family members, from professionals involved in the care of patients or from Social Services themselves. The ethos of OUTREACH (a part of the Assessment and Development Department) is to help those who need assistance but cannot physically make the journey to COMPAID Trust for advice.

The purpose of OUTREACH visits is to assess for communication aids, to give advice on software and peripherals, for people wishing to use computers at home and who cannot access them in the conventional way, and/or to provide training.

OUTREACH visits may be requested for a number of reasons. Clients may:

a)

feel too unwell or too frail to travel to COMPAID Trust.

b)

experience stress during the rigours of such a journey which would have a detrimental effect upon their condition.

c)

feel more comfortable and relaxed in the security of their own environment.

d)

not be able to personally financially afford to make the journey or do not have access to appropriate transport. Social Services cannot fund such a journey due to financial constraints.

e)

Professionals, such as speech and language therapists require additional specific input with clients.

Training

Following these visits, one to one basic training of computer/software operation may be required. Clients may be able to cope with only one hours input at any time and OUTREACH visits can be tailored to reflect this.

OUTREACH visits are not currently funded by any statutory body and donations are therefore most welcome and encouraged.
